The Color imageRUNNER C5185 Series will help to bring greater flexibility, power and performance to the document systems industry by incorporating a number of new features.

Chicago, June 12, 2007 Further solidifying its position as a leader in color document output, Canon U.S.A., Inc., today introduced the Color imageRUNNER C5185 Series, its latest digital multifunction device complete with greater flexibility, power and performance. Unveiled at Canon's Digital Solutions Forum in Chicago, the Color imageRUNNER C5185 Series will be the first Canon branded color MFP to use a Single-Pass Duplexing Automatic Document Feeder (DADF) and the first to incorporate a number of new features and functionality.

Canon established itself as a market leader synonymous with color 30 years ago with the introduction of its first color copier in Japan, and 20 years ago with the introduction of the first color laser copier (CLC-1). Canon recently reached another milestone in its illustrious color history with the sale of its 1,000,000th digital color copier.

Today, Canon continues to build on this tradition with the Color imageRUNNER C5185 Series, equipped with unrivaled color brilliance and production speeds of up to 51 pages per minute (ppm) for both color and black-and-white letter-sized documents. The 100-sheet Single-Pass DADF on the Color imageRUNNER C5185 devices scans both sides of originals simultaneously at speeds up to 100 images-per-minute (ipm) at 300 dots-per-inch (dpi) resolution, helping to improve document distribution, communication and archiving.

The new Color imageRUNNER C5185 will be the first imageRUNNER models to support new features that will also be available on several black-and-white and Color imageRUNNER devices moving forward. Some of these features include Workflow Composer, which allows users to register one key for all document processes within an entire workflow or task, IPv6 and Microsoft Vista support, and Access Management System, which gives administrators greater control over device access at the user- and group-level.

Designed in two versions: the "i" model for out-of-the-box standard office environments, and the "base" model, providing highly customizable features to meet complex document management, the Color imageRUNNER C5185 Series is powered by Canon's imageCHIP system architecture driving all-in-one multifunction capabilities, including simultaneous copying, printing, scanning, sending, and faxing. Sporting Canon's Twin-Belt Fusing Technology, this device provides users with fast print speeds and warm-up times, helping to address companies' needs for greater output in less time.

Similar to the company's other leading imaging solutions, the Color imageRUNNER C5185 Series incorporates Canon's proven Java-based MEAP (Multifunctional Embedded Application Platform) software, allowing organizations the ability to create business-specific applications and customized workflows to drive seamless business processes. As a result, the Color imageRUNNER C5185 Series is capable of becoming the central information management hub within any organization.

The Color imageRUNNER C5185 and C5185i will be available in the third quarter through Canon Authorized Dealers and Canon Business Solutions with manufacturer suggested retail prices of $23,000 and $25,000, respectively.
