My Favorites...
Main / Open Mic / Teresa Jorgensen's Blog

In the general course of daily activity, I am frequently asked, "Do you have a favorite customer?" Jeez! Way to put someone on the spot......

So, I decided I will do a (mini) series on businesses that make very cool stuff, have very cool facilities, or have super cool staff (and please note these qualities are not mutually exclusive!).

Today, I will share what I think are very cool things being manufactured:

Precision Panel manufactures structural insulated panels (www.precisionpanel.com). The equipment they use in manufacturing is cool, the efficiency gained in home energy is very impressive, and the fact that this team has a contract in Africa is just amazing!

Has anyone out there ever heard Oprah (yes, THE Oprah) talk about her favorite lotion? Well, that lotion is made right here in Garden City! Mariposa Labs (www.mariposalabs.com) manufactures lotions, shampoos, and other wonderful body care products. It is a joy to go in to their facility because it SMELLS so incredible when you walk in the door! Lovely Lisa is just fun to talk to...

Thermistors are thermally sensitive resistors. I only know that they exist because the folks at Quality Thermistor, Inc (www.thermistor.com) educated me. I find the scope of their customer base very interesting. They are providing thermistors for sleep apnea machines, they are also on projects for military equipment, and will be providing thermistors that will be going to Mars!

So, that is a quick view of some of my favorite things being manufactured.

This is the beginning. Next time, cool facilities -  if anyone has someplace they think I should check out, let me know!
