No, this is not a blog about Gary Mahn or Eric Strand. I simply want to reiterate a point I wrote about last year: The best ideas come from employees... and leaders need to have their ears wide open to listen.
We had our monthly “Fisher’s Almost Friday” happy hour last night (it used to be called “Fisher’s Friday,” but we moved it to Thursdays). This is a monthly opportunity for folks from different areas of the company who don’t normally interact to get together and chat outside of the stresses at work.
Last night I got into a great discussion with a service technician about something we could do much better... and he was absolutely right. It was a great idea and I don’t know if the topic would have surfaced had we not had the opportunity to chat casually... and had I not been someone open to new ideas and suggestions.
Having “big ears” is critical to our success and I am so glad that Fisher’s employees feel like they can share their thoughts on making Fisher’s even better.
