Paper Mis-feeds on your MFP, MFD
Main / Quick Tips

Miss-match of paper sizes and orientations

Often times paper jamming may occur on your MFP due to a simple matter of paper size or paper orientation being miss-matched. A good way to check this is: from the control panel of the MFP, ensure that the screen displays the size and paper orientation (i.e. letter, portrait or landscape) that is actually in the paper cassette you are using. Some manufacturers use the paper side guides to tell the logic what the paper size and orientation is (the guides need to be flush on all sides of the paper). Others will use a lever or knob in an easily visible location on the cassette (this will need to be set to the size and orientation currently in use). If you have many users who need various paper sizes, the side guides and lever/knobs can be overlooked when loading new paper. Be sure to check these variables prior to requesting a service call.
